Radiology Benefits Management (RBM) Communication – Peer to Peer clarification

In an effort to improve the peer to peer (physician to physician) process through MedSolutions (RBM contractor), please make sure that the physician has the following information available for the call:

1.    Patient’s last name

2.    Patient’s first name or initial

3.    DCN (Medicaid Participant ID)

4.    Patient’s date of birth

This information would also be required during status checks (by either the requesting physician’s office or the rendering facility).

If the MedSolutions physician approves the peer to peer review of a previously denied authorization, MedSolutions will create a new authorization for the service.  However, the MedSolutions physician will not have the new authorization number available at the time of the review, but will be able to tell the requesting physician the status of the authorization and the procedure code that has been approved.  The requesting physician and all other interested parties can access the authorization number through the CyberAccess Web tool.
